Tojal House
Conceptually considered as a granite box with 700mm thickness walls, the strategic approach starts when the ashlar blocks are filled by thin black window frames, revealing the basic organization of the interior spaces and giving the balance of the existing built vertical surfaces. More than a restoration of a dwelling, this intervention tries to, through traditional construction processes instil an image of contemporaneity that makes this house an iconic shape in the surrounding built environment.
